More information
What a treat to discover a tiny parcel of mature Rioja Reserva, and from a top estate too. Well, we have been friends with the family since they completed their state of the art winery in 1984, and were the first to export their wines to the UK. Nearly four decades on, the cellar remains one of the finest in Europe and has accumulated a huge number of awards. It was ranked among the ‘Top 50 Wineries in the World’ for nine years in a row by Wine & Spirits magazine. This 6-year-old Rioja is nearly all Tempranillo, with a splash of Garnacha and Mazuelo, matured in American oak barrels for 15 months, to add an aromatic layer of vanilla spice to the mellow summer berry notes, all now well integrated. Serve with pork, paella or pan-fried duck.
